This is for Real Now
It finally set in. It happened the night we met our midwife LeAnn. This is for real now! I was sitting with Bryan watching some stand up comedy when it hit me and I started bawling uncontrollably.😢 Bryan looked confused at first, but he was trying to comfort me. He always makes me feel better. I am so happy that he is with me through all of this. I tried explaining to him through my sobbing that I wanted to make out with him and get intimate during the birth. He was staring at me confused. "Wait you mean while you are giving birth?" he asks. "No no while I am in labor! Intimacy is what created this and that is exactly what will end it!" I said. He still looked confused...
I have been reading a lot on natural child birth and spiritual midwifery. It helps speed things up, and reduces pain when you can relax and get intimate with your partner during labor. It also helps to move around while in labor. Laying flat on a hospital bed the whole time does not sound appealing at all. That would be like trying to take a colossal dump while lying on your back! I also don't find it appealing to have my baby in a hospital. I want to have it where I feel most comfortable and at peace which is my home. No, I have not seen a doctor and I don't intend to.
A year ago I watched this amazing movie on Netflix called The Business of Being Born. I had already decided to have a home birth at that point. If you haven't seen this movie I would highly recommend it. Especially if you are sitting here bewildered and trying to understand why I won't go to a doctor.
So many people have looked at me like I have a third eye when I tell them I won't be seeing a doctor. They know nothing about natural child birth. I've said this a hundred times and I will say it again. Medical doctors don't know how the body cures itself (Kidney filtration through the great lymphatic system). All they know is how to give expensive surgery and treatments. Treatment does not get to the cause of the symptoms. It masks the symptoms. Most of the time killing people in the long run. In fact most of them have never even seen a natural child birth.
During a hospital birth they will induce labor with a drug called Pitocin. This drug causes unnatural contractions that are longer, stronger and closer together. This makes the pain of labor much worse. Which leads to the epidural. Some women itch from the Pitocin so they are given another drug for the itching. Once the epidural wears off the contractions start hurting again so they up the epidural... It's one big snowball effect of drugs. One big reason hospitals do this is money. They are using us as cash cows! Not just in pregnancy but in all aspects of the medical industry.
It is important for a mother to go through labor naturally. To have her baby at her own pace. Hospitals don't encourage this because they are a business. They want mothers in and out of the hospital rooms as fast and efficient as possible. They can't have women spending hours in the labor rooms. This is not good for the baby or the mother. In fact, in the medical industry, women have been made to think they can't have babies naturally. It's complete bullshit.
I recommend you learn to start thinking positively about your body.
Remember this because it is as true as it gets:
Your body is not a lemon.
You are not a machine.
The creator is not a careless mechanic.
Human female bodies have the same potential to give birth as well do aardvarks, lions, elephants, moose, rhinoceri and water buffalo. We are animals after all.
